About Xu Quang
Xu Quang is for readers who want to know what a dish or an old town is, where it comes from and how to visit it: Mi Quang, Cao Lau, Hoi An, My Son and the craft villages of the region. Every fact is checked against its source and dated. The editor, Vincent Nguyen, reads Vietnamese and is responsible for every guide. For places to eat in Da Nang, see the sister guide danangoi.com (opens in a new tab).
The problem. Writing about Vietnamese food and heritage in English tends to repeat the same few stories. Dishes get origin tales nobody can trace, ticket prices and opening hours go stale, and a heritage listing is quoted from a blog instead of from the decision that created it.
What {site} does instead
Heritage listings link back to the Vietnamese government decision that made them. Facts about dishes, towns and sights are checked against official and provincial or city portals, museums and published reporting, and dated. Where sources disagree, or a fact cannot be confirmed, the guide says so instead of filling the gap with a guess.
How every guide is checked
- Every date, price, ingredient claim and place in a guide is traced to a source, with the exact wording kept on file.
- Heritage listings rest on the Vietnamese government decision that made them; press and guides are never the only basis for a listing.
- Each guide shows when it was last verified and when it is due for review; what could not be confirmed is listed openly.
After that, a few more checks: (1) an automated gate confirms that every number, date and condition appears in its quoted source, and stops the guide if a heritage listing rests only on press or agency pages; (2) a second review reads the guide sentence by sentence against the quotes and cuts what the source does not say; (3) each guide carries a review month and is checked again on that schedule, with the new “Verified” date shown. AI models do the research, drafting and much of the review, and the editor reviews and approves every guide before it goes live. The full process, including where AI is used, is on how guides are checked.
What {site} does not do
No figure without a quote from its source: if no source says it in so many words, the sentence is cut rather than softened. No payment changes a fact or the source behind a fact (see affiliate links and paid listings). Ticket prices, opening hours and access rules change, sometimes faster than official pages are updated, so check with the site or operator before you travel.
